Under the theme Navigating to a Greener Future, HKMW 2024 will showcase Propel Hong Kong to sustainable shipping practices while reinforcing its status as a world-leading maritime hub. The week-long event will feature a series of high-level conferences, seminars, and industry activities that spotlight key topics ranging from green shipping to maritime law and arbitration.

International Maritime Events in Full Swing

Kicking off the weeks agenda, the Hong Kong Global Maritime Trade Summit, organised by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), took place this morning. ICS Chairman Emanuele Grimaldi opened the summit with a keynote speech, setting the tone for discussions on the evolving global maritime landscape. Later in the week, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will host a seminar on 22 November titled From Waste to Wealth: Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Ship Recycling, offering insights into sustainable ship recycling practices and investment opportunities.

Signature Events and Highlights

Following the opening ceremony, the prestigious Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference kicked off immediately, with a focus on Shaping the Future of Supply Chains: Resilience and Sustainability This two-day event will see experts from across the globe discuss the future of logistics and maritime operations in an increasingly complex and sustainable world.

Simultaneously, the World Maritime Merchants Forum also commenced, exploring the theme Navigating the Cycles, which delves into market cycles and their impact on global trade. Adding further excitement, the vessel Xin Hong Zhuan made its first-ever visit to Hong Kong and will be stationed at Harbour City throughout the week until 23 November.
